- Back by popular demand, the Black Swamp Conservancy is offering two gardening workshops in Perrysburg. The first workshop, “Late Summer and Fall in the Garden,” will be held on August 19 and will cover topics such as how to harvest and preserve summer produce, how to prepare your garden for fall, and what to plant in the fall. The second workshop, “What is a Forest Garden and is it for You?,” will be held on September 30 and will explore the concept of forest gardening, which is a low-maintenance way to grow food and other plants. Both workshops will be led by master gardener Vicki Gallagher. - In Dauphin County, Penn State Master Gardener Kevin Kelly will be giving a presentation on ferns suitable for outdoor gardens. The presentation will be held on October 28 at the Olewine Nature Center at Wildwood Park and will focus on garden-worthy selections, mainly native to eastern North America. Participants will learn about the origins and life cycles of ferns and how to use them in their gardens.
