In a significant development, India’s formidable fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, has been given a well-deserved break and will not be part of the Indian squad for the second ODI against Australia in Indore. The experienced speedster has opted not to travel with the team to the venue, with Mukesh Kumar stepping in as his replacement for this particular match.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced via Twitter that Bumrah has been granted a short break by the team management, allowing him to spend valuable time with his family. It’s worth noting that the 29-year-old is scheduled to rejoin the squad for the crucial third ODI in Rajkot.

Jasprit Bumrah recently made a triumphant return to international cricket during the Asia Cup 2023 after being sidelined due to a back injury. Celebrated for his remarkable pace and pinpoint accuracy, he played a pivotal role in India’s victory in the tournament, securing four wickets with an outstanding economy rate of 4.18. In the first ODI in Mohali, he delivered an impressive performance, conceding only 43 runs in ten overs.
Meanwhile, Mukesh Kumar, a right-arm pacer, showcased his bowling prowess in the ODI series against the host team in the Caribbean, taking four wickets with an economy rate of 4.60. With Bumrah absent, it is highly likely that his bowling partner, Mohammed Siraj, will make his return to the side after being rested for the first game.
