The ceremony took place at the IRDT Auditorium, serving as the platform for CM Dhami to formally introduce the ‘Chief Minister Sports Promotion Scheme.’ During the event, CM Dhami underscored the transformative influence of Major Dhyanchand on Indian hockey. Despite his origins in a humble military family, Major Dhyanchand’s exceptional athletic prowess resonated with individuals around the world. CM Dhami encouraged aspiring athletes to draw inspiration from Major Dhyanchand’s remarkable journey.
It is important to note that this scheme caters to athletes aged 14 to 23. The government had previously extended its coverage to athletes aged eight to 14. The launch of the scheme’s second phase on National Sports Day further expands its reach and potential impact.
