The AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy) admissions counseling process in Uttarakhand has hit an unexpected snag as 10 colleges, including the renowned Patanjali Institute, are still awaiting recognition from the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM).
Initially, Uttarakhand Ayurveda University had slated the online AYUSH UG counseling, based on NEET UG scores, to run from September 8 to September 20, following directives from the Ministry.

However, due to the delay in granting recognition to these institutions, the Ayurveda University has been compelled to extend the counseling dates from September 8 to September 16.
As is customary, Ayurvedic colleges undergo rigorous inspections by NCISM for official recognition. Subsequently, Uttarakhand Ayurveda University administers online AYUSH UG counseling, contingent upon NEET UG scores. This year was no exception, with the first phase of AYUSH counseling originally scheduled from September 8 to September 20.
Dr. OP Singh, the Counseling Coordinator, disclosed that only nine colleges have received recognition thus far, leaving the remaining 10 in a state of anticipation. This necessitated the extension of the counseling timetable.
Additionally, NCISM has scaled down the number of seats at Uttarakhand Ayurveda University’s Harrawala campus. Last year, there were 75 seats with EWS reservations, but this year, it has been reduced to 64. Similarly, the UG seats at the Rishikul-Gurukul campus remain at 75 each, but the PG seats have witnessed a decrease. Rishikul now offers 60 seats instead of 68, while Gurukul has 14 PG seats compared to the 15 available in the previous year.
