Earthquake in Uttarkashi : Late at night, the peaceful atmosphere of Uttarkashi in the Yamuna Ghati region was disrupted by a significant earthquake, sending tremors rippling across the area. Mild seismic activity was also detected in Purola, Barkot, and Mori, all situated within the district. The epicenter of this seismic disturbance was pinpointed five kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface, nestled within the forested expanse of Barkot Sylna.
At the stroke of midnight, a formidable earthquake jolted Uttarkashi, abruptly rousing residents from their deep slumber. Startled from their sleep, people hastily evacuated their homes in apprehension, seeking refuge outdoors. Presently, there have been no reported incidents of damage or casualties resulting from the event.

The earth quivered once more at 3:49 am in the Yamuna Ghati region of Uttarkashi. Although the earthquake’s duration was brief, its intensity was substantial, prompting residents who were sound asleep to swiftly awaken and seek safety outside.
The earthquake’s epicenter was positioned five kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface, concealed amidst the wooded terrain of Barkot Sylna. The Richter scale recorded the earthquake’s magnitude at 2.9. Authorities have established communication with all Tehsil Police Station posts via telephone, and no reports have surfaced regarding human casualties or harm to animals in the aftermath of the earthquake.
