The inaugural launch ceremony took place in Ahmedabad, where India women’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana personally introduced the program to over 1000 school children at the Narendra Modi Stadium. ‘Criiio 4 Good’ comprises eight sport-for-development modules that revolve around critical themes such as gender equity, creating awareness about the issue, and emphasizing the significance of providing equal opportunities to every child in India.
The program ingeniously employs cricket as a medium to convey these invaluable life lessons. It features eight animated films, using state-of-the-art animation techniques and cricketing examples to illustrate specific life skills, including leadership, problem-solving, confidence, decision-making, negotiation, empathy, teamwork, and goal setting. These modules have undergone meticulous research to incorporate local nuances.
The Ministry of Education is actively promoting these modules to over 1.5 million schools across India through the Diksha platform, ensuring a lasting impact that extends beyond the Cricket World Cup. Additionally, all eight learning modules are freely accessible on the Criiio website, offered in English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
Smriti Mandhana, India’s women’s vice-captain, expressed her immense pride in supporting the Criiio 4 Good initiative, highlighting its ability to employ cricket as a conduit for teaching essential life skills and promoting gender equality among both girls and boys.
