Hangzhou, China – September 27 (ANI): Indian shooter Anant Jeet Singh made a significant contribution to India’s medal haul at the Asian Games, securing a silver medal in the men’s skeet individual final on Wednesday. With a commendable score of 58 points, Anant Jeet Singh exhibited his exceptional shooting skills. Kuwait’s Abdullah Alrashidi claimed the gold medal with an impressive score of 60 points, tying the world record held by India’s Angad Vir Singh. Qatar’s Nasser Al-Attiya clinched the bronze medal with a score of 46 points.
This achievement marks a historic moment for India, as it is the first time in the history of the Asian Games that the nation has won a silver medal in this particular event. The stellar performance of Indian shooters is undeniably enhancing India’s standing at the Games.

India’s success in shooting at the Hangzhou meet now amounts to an impressive 12 medals, surpassing their previous record of nine shooting medals achieved at the 2018 Asian Games.
In the women’s 25m pistol final, Indian pistol shooter Esha Singh secured a silver medal with a total of 34 points. The gold medal was claimed by China’s Rui Liu, who scored 38 points, while South Korea’s Jiin Yaang secured the bronze medal with 29 points.
However, it was a disappointing outing for Olympian Manu Bhaker, who managed only 21 points, resulting in her fifth-place finish. Bhaker’s subpar performance in the final was primarily attributed to a pistol malfunction.
Previously, the men’s skeet team, comprising Angad Vir Singh, Gurjoat Singh, and Anand Jeet Singh, secured a bronze medal. India amassed a total of 355 points, with China taking home the gold with 362 points and Qatar securing the silver with 359 points.

India’s outstanding performance continued as Sift Kaur Samra clinched the gold medal, and Ashi Chouksey secured the bronze in the women’s 50m rifle 3P individual final. Samra not only topped the charts with an impressive score of 469.6 points but also established new world, Asian, and Asian Games records. China’s Qiongyue Zhang secured the silver with 462.3 points, while Ashi claimed the bronze with 451.9 points.
Additionally, the Indian shooting trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan secured a gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol team event. India accumulated a total of 1759 points, securing the gold. China claimed the silver with 1756 points, while South Korea earned the bronze with a total of 1742 points.
In the women’s 50m rifle 3P team shooting event, Ashi Chouksey, Manini Kaushik, and Sift Kaur Samara secured a silver medal for India with a score of 1754 points, falling just 19 points short of gold. China secured the gold with 1756 points, while South Korea won the bronze with 1742 points.
India’s remarkable medal tally at the ongoing Hangzhou meet now stands at 22 medals, comprising five golds, seven silvers, and ten bronzes, reaffirming India’s strong presence at the Asian Games.
