During this tour, PM Modi is slated to visit Lohaghat, where the Mayawati Ashram proudly houses Swami Vivekananda’s room. Recently, the District Magistrate conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Mayawati Ashram to ensure its readiness for the Prime Minister’s arrival. Sources suggest that PM Modi may spend approximately 20 hours at the Mayawati Ashram during his visit.

A Historic Occasion: After an astonishing 122-year hiatus, Swami Vivekananda’s room is poised to host another guest overnight. The district administration has undertaken thorough preparations to ensure the comfort and well-being of the Prime Minister during his stay, meticulously addressing accommodation and dining requirements.
Swami Vivekananda’s Sojourn: Swami Vivekananda embarked on a transformative journey from Madras in 1901, eventually reaching the Advaita Ashram in Lohaghat on January 3, 1901. During his sojourn at the ashram, Swami Vivekananda spent an extraordinary 15 days, dedicating himself to the practice of yoga and meditation. The ashram’s manager, Suhdanand Maharaj, recalled that two rooms were specially designated for Swami Vivekananda’s spiritual pursuits. Subsequently, after his departure, these rooms remained sacrosanct, preserving his memory. Remarkably, during this centennial year, the ashram has welcomed numerous eminent personalities who have paid homage to Swami Vivekananda.
A Night’s Repose After 122 Years: In the past, Uttarakhand Governor and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami have had the privilege of staying overnight at this hallowed ashram. Suhdanand Maharaj has confirmed that Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to rest in Swami Vivekananda’s room, with all necessary arrangements meticulously executed. This historic visit will witness the room being opened for overnight stays for the first time in 122 years.
According to reliable sources, Prime Minister Modi is expected to arrive in the evening of either October 11th or 12th, with departure planned for the following morning. The Mayawati Ashram, nestled amidst breathtaking Himalayan vistas, offers panoramic views of the Om Parvat and Nanda Devi peak, which will undoubtedly be special highlights for the Prime Minister.

In addition to his stay at the Mayawati Ashram, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a public gathering in Pithoragarh. Mahendra Bhatt, BJP State President, underscored the Prime Minister’s deep affinity for Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, citing his frequent visits to the region. Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi has been appointed as the in-charge for PM Modi’s upcoming visit to Pithoragarh, while State Vice President Balwant Singh Bhorial will assume the role of coordinator for this significant event.
